POLICIES AND GUIDELINES

As a central repository for existing, new and revised policies and guidelines, the CPU Policy Database serves to standardize policy format, eliminate redundancies, improve organization, accessibility, search and navigation functions. The policies are organized in categories as noted in the menus below. Some policies may be listed in multiple categories. University policies, procedures and guidelines are retained and maintained in this database to guide and inform the University community, including faculty, staff, administration and students. Human Resources: The Human Resources section contains policy and procedure documents that concern workplace issues at the university. Subjects include, but are not limited to, benefits, training, professional development and employee assistance.

Safety and Security: The Safety and Security section contains administrative policy and procedure documents that relate to the safety of the university community. Subjects include, but are not limited to, emergencies, conduct and behavior, threats and environmental safety.

Environmental Health & Safety: Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) is committed to providing health and safety services that protect the university community and the environment: The mission of Environmental Health and Safety is to support the University’s mission and values by sustaining and enhancing a safe and healthy environment for the CMU community. Our service excellence plus one approach, and collaborative partnerships help mitigate the risk of injury, reduce impact to the environment, and maintain compliance within the areas of Fire, Laboratory, Workplace Safety.

Information Technology: The Information Technology section contains administrative policy and procedure documents that relate to the university’s electronic environment. Subjects include, but are not limited to, privacy, security, compliance, and the responsible use of information technology resources.

Principles of Responsible Conduct: CPU underlying expectations for the conduct of all University and Health System activity.

Adherence to University Policy: CPU expectations for employee compliance to laws, policies and procedures.

Non Retaliation Policy: Information about reporting suspected policy non compliance and about policies prohibiting retaliation against report claimants.

Conflict of Interest: Extramural and institutional policies on what constitutes an employee’s improper benefit from his or her position of trust at Penn (for research-specific policies, see below).

Use of CPU Name: Policies related to the sanctioned use of the University name in official, licensed, and private capacities.

EEO and Affirmative Action: CPU Nondiscrimination Statement and the University’s policy on Equal Opportunity and Affirmative Action.

Sexual Harassment: Code of conduct, available resources, and procedures for resolving complaints of sexual harassment within the unit or at the University level.
