RCD focuses its activities around the development of new and emerging researchers and providing access to funding opportunities for postgraduate students.

In collaboration with faculties, departments and relevant units, RCD aims to:

• Enhance and increase the levels of accredited research outputs
• Retain and attract quality postgraduate students
• Increase resources obtained for funding towards postgraduate studies.

Areas of responsibility of RCD include:

• Managing institutional and external postgraduate bursaries;
• Postdoctoral fellowships;
• The Research Ethics Committees (Animal and Human);
• Hosting of internal capacity development workshops; and
• Facilitating the mentoring of development of new and emerging researchers.
